LOWER COLUMBIA SCHOOL GARDENS
Cultivating the values of lifelong learning, sustainability, health, and community.
With major grants from Cowlitz Fund and Lowe's, countless donations from local businesses and families, and LOTS of hard work by kids and volunteers, St Helens has beautiful new 6,000 square foot garden right out in front of the school.
In the first year kids helped build the shed and raised beds, dig trenches for waterlines, spread gravel and mulch, and plant trees and winter cover crops. The garden at St Helens has quickly become a source of pride for the staff, the neighborhood, and above all, the kids.
